Waste And Recycling Team Member

About the Role:

Are you looking for a hands-on role where you can contribute to your local community and the environment? Council are seeking motivated individuals to join our Health, Environment & Waste branch as Waste & Recycling Team Members.

In this diverse role, you will be at the forefront of our resource recovery efforts. You will undertake activities across waste and recycling recovery, salvage, and transport, as well as assisting customers at our Recycling Market and Transfer Stations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recover items for resale and recycling from customer waste loads.
• Stock and set up the Recycling Market area.
• Assist customers with pricing, collection, and item locations.
• Sort and dismantle recyclable goods into separate categories.
• Transport materials using containers, cages, and truck trays.
• Maintain the site by removing litter and managing landscaping.
• Operate plant and maintain infrastructure like pipes and roads.
• Direct traffic and monitor customer activity on-site.

What you will need to exceed:

• Current manual ‘C’ Class driver’s licence.
• Basic mathematical skills and the ability to read safety signs and manuals.
• A Forklift or Heavy Machinery licence is highly regarded.
• Willingness to undergo mandatory immunisations.
• Availability to work across a 7-day roster (Sunday-Thursday, Monday-Friday, or Tuesday-Saturday).
